Artivism is the combination of art and activism. When I was a young girl, I was deeply effected by injustice and didn't know how to effectively combat racism, classism and sexism. People didn't seem to want to talk about these problems. But when I put on plays and skits, people would listen. They were even willing to talk about diffcult issues. Ever since then, I've dedicated myself to using art to promote and engage in democratic processes and creative approaches to community building for positive social change.
Some call it righteous entertainment, I call it artivism!
