Artivism: Jackie 'n' the Beanstalk
The Point performance, South Bronx, 2008
Jackie & The Beanstalk is a New Environmentally Conscious Urban Fairytale with a South Bronx twist!
About The Play
Jackie is after more than beans as she battles asthma and a giant polluter while trying to hold on to her dreams in this delightfully funny, environmentally-conscious theatrical event. A fast-moving feast for the eyes, this theatrical circus show features acrobatics, aerial dance and fun for all ages!
Jackie and the Beanstalk reflects the lived experience of many people in the South Bronx, and combines serious social issues with theater and circus arts to reach and teach, with a light, human touch.
Jackie and the Beanstalk has engaged over 300 Bronx students in discussions about making positive change in their communities. It has been used as a classroom teaching tool, and as public health awareness and education tool.
