Persimmon Season

Khormaloo, in Farsi

The tastiest persimmon I ever ate was in Kabul. It tasted like golden date honey.

Persimmons aren’t that popular in the U.S. Sure, some people enjoy them but many don’t even know what they are! And many people won’t buy something they don’t know how to eat.

Eating a persimmon is so simple - let it ripen then slice like an apple and enjoy!

Ways in which crowdfunding is like a persimmon:

  • I have to be patient and wait until folks are ready to give, share, dig in

  • Most people will learn more if a personal invitation or demo is offered

  • Lots of folks have to think really hard about how There is a Portal will work in real life (thank you everyone who’s asked for more info)

I’m getting better at explaining the power of this project, but in the meantime:

Two ways to experience There is a Portal in action:

  1. This Friday evening, November 20 I am hosting a short (30 minute) participatory digital storytelling experience of There is a Portal at Gibney Dance online. Join me!

  2. The Center for the Study of Social Difference at Columbia University launched a short podcast called Just Three. I am featured in the first episode! Find it on Spotify, Anchor, and Apple.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this campaign.

I need you to keep giving and spreading the word in order to reach my goal!

There are many ways to support:

  1. Donate to the crowdfund

  2. Connect me to folks who can amplify the work? (anyone know Brene Brown, savvy marketing folks, social media advisors?)

  3. Send a personal email to invite one other person to learn about the project.
